The research group has expertise in plant acclimation to single and interacting environmental stresses. In particular, in how globally changing environmental factors alter plant carbon gain and how plant carbon gain adapts to these environmental modifications. Research is focused on modifications of plant distributions by environmental drivers and plant physiological potentials. The research involves both experimental work and quantitative modelling to predict the future performance of plant communities. Field experimental work is currently conducted in Järvselja experimental forest and Endla State Nature Reserve (bog and wetland). The expertise of individual researchers covers photosynthesis physiology, plant response to stress (including natural stresses and pollution), and modelling of biological processes.
