The Ecology Section at the Department of Botany, Stockholm University carries out research at the highest international level on plant population dynamics, plant-animal interactions and plant community ecology.

A long-term goal of the group is to get a comprehensive and quantitative understanding of how spatio-temporal variation in environmental conditions influence population dynamics and trait evolution in iteroparous plants, directly and via their effects on mutualistic and antagonistic interactions with animals. Current research focuses on three main fields: (1) ecological and evolutionary consequences of plant-animal interactions, (2) plant life history evolution, and (3) plant population dynamics and viability in changing environments. The approach of the group is to put these questions into a life cycle context.
